After 3 years, I have finally moved into my own "space" where I have set up my studio and created a haven to work in! When I first began this business three years ago, all 4 of my children were living at home and there was literally NO room for me to work. I was stamping at my kitchen counter most days, and hiding it all in my dining room when I finished. From there, I actually moved IN to that dining room, but that wasn't practical either (and hubby wasn't thrilled with no dining room table to eat at!). Then I moved into the basement family room, and finally
I was crammed into our tiny water heater closet with a loud water boiler at my side, and while the business had grown larger, my work space had grown smaller. That's backwards!
This week I took the plunge and moved into my eldest son's old bedroom in the basement (he lives and works in another city now that he graduated from college), and have set up work tables, a work bench, closets full of all my supplies, and room to move around.
What a great feeling it is to love going to work each morning! It is bright and cheerful and I can work side by side with my assistant and not be on top of one another! She is the super organized one, so hopefully this will make everything more productive and efficient for the both of us. My husband teases that the only place left to go is a store front in the mall, but I am not ready for that yet! This is one shop I can shut the door to when I want, go on vacation any time, and the best part is I can work in my pajamas if I feel like it!
